PODCAST: Politics is often described as a dirty game, and in Dekalb County, Georgia, it turned deadly in late 2000. Sheriff-elect Derwin Brown was assassinated in front of his home just days before his swearing-in. As a veteran law enforcement officer, one might easily assume he was targeted for revenge — and that was indeed the case. However, the perpetrator was not a former convict; it was the very man Brown had defeated to become the county sheriff.
