NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Court TV/Scripps News Nashville) — A Tennessee soccer coach is facing charges after “hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures” were found on his cellphone left behind at a restaurant, according to police.
Camilo Hurtado Campos, 63, is being held in jail on charges of rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor. Franklin Police say more charges are expected to be filed.
The investigation began when Campos reportedly left his cellphone behind at a restaurant. Staff members looked through it, hoping to find its owner.
Police said in many of the videos, “Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately 9 and 17 years old.”
An investigation revealed Campos would frequent nearby playgrounds to recruit kids as players on his soccer team.
After gaining their trust, he invited many of them to his home, where he would allegedly drug and rape them.
Police said they discovered the rapes of at least 10 children on Campos’s cellphone, and “the children in these videos were in such an unconscious state, that they might not even realize they’re victims.”
Police are asking those familiar with Campos to help identify the victims. So far, detectives have identified two.
