LEE COUNTY, Ark. (Court TV) – Two adults have been arrested and charged with capital murder after the body of a 6-year-old boy was found buried inside a home, according to Arkansas Police.
Ashley Roland, 28, and Nathan Bridges, 33, were taken into custody Dec. 16, after the child’s decomposing body was found buried underneath a hallway floor. Authorities believe he died three months ago from “injuries sustained in the home.”
A medical examiner will determine an official cause of death following an autopsy.
Authorities said a 6-year-old girl, who had injuries “believed to be burns to the scalp,” was also removed from the home. She was taken to a Memphis hospital in stable condition.
Roland is the mother of the children. Authorities have not said if Bridges is related to the children.
Roland and Bridges are being held in the Lee County Jail on charges of capital murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a minor.
