MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Scripps News Milwaukee) Family and friends are honoring the victims of a murder 10 years ago.
On Oct. 19, 2007, up-and-coming R&B singer Yolanda “Lala” Brown and her producer JeTannue “Kool-Aid” Clayborn were shot and killed in a Milwaukee studio on 55th Street and Lisbon Avenue.
Ten years later the case is still unsolved and both families are still hoping for justice.
As they still wait, family and friends gathered outside of the former recording studio to grieve together and remember these two lives stolen.
“This day is all about celebrating who they were,” Chambers said. “ We want to honor them and let them know we haven’t forgotten about them.”
And as they pay tribute Chambers told WTMJ, she’ll continue to put her faith in God until someone is held responsible and charged with the crime.
“If you have any information regarding this murder, if you know any kind of tidbits related to Jatonne and Lala it would be most gracious for you to come forth with it,” she said.
In regards to this case, Milwaukee police said two suspects are behind bars in another state on other offenses.
Charges have not yet been filed.
