ATLANTA (AP) — Police have identified 33-year-old Brian Nichols as the suspect in Friday's fatal courthouse shooting in Atlanta. He was on trial on rape charges stemming from an incident in August. A juror at Nichols' trial said the jury was not in the courtroom at the time of the shooting. Nichols had not yet taken the stand in the trial, which started Tuesday. Juror James Bailey said Nichols made him and other jurors nervous. "Every time he looked up, he was staring at you," Bailey said.
The manhunt continues for Nichols, who witnesses say got away by carjacking a car. Police are looking for several vehicles reported stolen in the area. |
